Cradle of the Root
Defender of life and nature, combining primal magic and ancient fire. Spirit-bonded to the Silverroot Forest, Virelia outlasts what she cannot overpower — through patience, deep memory, and the slow certainty of roots that crack stone.
“Listen to the land. Seek balance older than the shard.”
Origin
Before the Shards fell, the roots were already listening.
Chapter I — The First Root
Before the Shards fell, there was only the Cradle — a living lattice of roots older than memory. Virelia did not find the Cradle. The Cradle found her, threading pale filaments through the soles of her feet as she slept beside a dying river. When she woke, the river ran clear. She has not slept since.
Chapter II — The Anti-Heal Doctrine
Nyra believes the flame restores. Virelia knows that restoration is a lie told to the dying. True life does not heal — it adapts. The Cradle does not mend wounded tissue. It replaces it, slowly, with something that cannot be wounded again. This is why Virelia's roots sever the healing channels. Not cruelty. Inevitability.
Chapter III — Roots & Void
Arkhelios Dragon believes void consumes everything eventually. Virelia has seen roots crack stone older than stars. The argument between them is not philosophical. The Void does consume — but before it reaches the heartwood, the roots drink it, metabolise it, and the grove grows darker and stranger for it. Virelia does not fear the Void. She composts it.
Design Philosophy
High Resilience. Anti-heal pressure. A counter built specifically for Nyra.
Virelia's hero ability. The first 2 times each turn you play a Nature Card, choose one: Draw 1 card or Restore 10 Shield. No cooldown — triggers passively like Nyra's Luminous Convergence, but keyed to Nature cards instead of Mystic cards.
Virelia's faction identity revolves around denying Shield recovery. Her cards suppress healing — if the opponent gains Shield this turn, her damage scales up. Nyra's Luminous Convergence and restoration spells become actively punishing to use against her.
Starting Shield of 22 — among the highest in the roster. Virelia is designed to outlast burst damage windows. She trades early offensive pressure for exceptional staying power, winning games by surviving until her roots overwhelm the field.
T2 means only 2 active traps at once, pushing Virelia toward a deliberate Ally-centric game. She builds her board across multiple turns, placing durable Friends with persistent passive effects rather than relying on high-cost burst.
Energy generation of 3 + ceil(3÷2) = 5 per turn. Virelia plays efficiently — her cards are costed around steady energy curves rather than the high-cost spikes seen in Nyra's kit. No Mystic Cancel, but she trades that for superior defensive bulk.
Matchup Note · Virelia vs Nyra
Virelia is the designated Nyra counter in the six-hero asymmetric system. Nyra's healing-heavy kit — Ember Bloom, Guardian Halo, Whisperleaf, Luminous Convergence — becomes a liability against Virelia's anti-heal suppression. Root Drain deals bonus damage whenever Nyra triggers a Shield gain, turning her best plays into punishable windows.
